Minimum Qualifications


Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.


GENERAL PUBLIC CANDIDATES:
One year of clerical experience.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.

Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.


Duties Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepares start up paperwork packets for all new hires for all units.
Sends all paperwork with ETW to Supervisor to process. Responsible for ordering & purchasing office supplies, paper supply, and water for Albany Division.
Responsible for Timekeeper/Kronos for all Albany Division ITSM unit.
Prepares PH folders for new hires and Seasonals and files in file cabinets when necessary.
Provides receipts for P Card purchases and distributes to Program Aide for reconciliation.
Responsible for Monthly Unemployment Verification. Responsible for Monthly Time Detail Report Responsible for GOER Training Tracking.
Prepares PH folders for new hires and Seasonals and files in file cabinets when necessary.
Collects & tracks internal postings from bulletin board, may distribute postings.
Works with new hire to go over hiring paperwork with new employee.
Responsible for Archive for the Administrative Office. Works with Reproductions to replenish employee packet booklets and bulletins.
Responsible for bulletin board clean up.
Assist with answering calls for the administrative office. Assist with requests from Personnel regarding missing information related to benefits, forms, & payroll issues.

This is a NYS Thruway Authority Unit 1 Teamsters position:
Health Insurance and Prescription Drug Coverage.
Dental and Vision Coverage.

13 Paid Holidays, 4 of which are floating holidays, which are credited in July each year for use from July 1st through June 30th.

Vacation, Sick and Personal Accruals.

Sick Leave is credited at the rate of one-half day each biweekly pay period up to a total of 165 days.

Sick Leave Incentive Plan - Employees who have not accumulated 165 sick days and have not used sick leave during the periods of January 1st to June 30th or July 1st to December 31st, each year, may receive two days of pay for each six-month period.

Employees who have a sick leave balance of 165 days, and continuously maintain that balance for each six-month period, may receive four days of pay for each six-month period.

Employees with 20+ years of continuous Authority/State service may receive up to an additional five days of vacation leave accruals annually.

Membership in the New York State and Local Retirement System, as well as optional enrollment in the NYS Deferred Compensation Plan.

Tuition Assistance Program which reimburses 90% of tuition costs for approved courses up to 15 credit hours per year.
New York's 529 College Savings Program, which provides New York families with a tax-advantaged way to save for college.

Flexible Spending Program, which allows employees to set aside pre-tax payroll deductions for eligible health care and dependent care expenses.

Service Award Payments - Upon completion of 10 years of Authority service, eligible employees will receive a 10-year Service Award Payment.

Payments are then awarded every five years as noted in the contract until 30 years of Authority service is reached.

Service Awards have a positive impact on retirement.
Employees are paid bi-weekly, with no lag time.
Some positions will be eligible for downstate and/or geographical pay depending on location and title.
