    Your Opportunity

    An opportunity exists for a Bridge Engineer in our Baton Rouge office.

    The Bridge Engineer must be highly engaged with exceptional client interaction skills and the ability to effectively work across multiple operational groups and technical disciplines.

    In this role, you may be asked to lead engineering teams on small to mid-size projects or serve as a team member on larger projects and perform quality control for both design calculations and plan development.

    You may also be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful structural projects such as bridges, highway interchanges, roadway construction, railroad infrastructure and public spaces.


    This is an opportunity to be involved in a variety of aspects when it comes to bridges such as design, analysis, load rating, inspection, and rehabilitation/repair.

    The Stantec bridge group in Louisiana has been involved in complex bridge design projects for the LADOTD and MDOT on projects such as an urban corridor with trapezoidal girders in Lafayette, LA; a curved steel plate girder interchange in Gulfport, MS; a navigational channel crossing in Lake Charles, LA; and a design-build delivery of an airport interchange in Kenner, LA.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    Serve as a technical specialist and consultant to transportation engineering disciplines on transportation related projects

    Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of reports and the development of project design elements including calculations, plans, specifications, and estimates

    Identify and analyze the principle design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project's purpose and client's needs

    Produce detailed, high-quality final design plans, specifications, and estimate in accordance with applicable procedures and standards

    Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates

    Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and development of project documents

    May write and negotiate proposals as project issues arise with clients or reviewing agencies

    May serve as a Team Leader on bridge inspection projects

    Perform other duties as necessary

    Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    Possess a P.E. license in Alabama, Louisiana, and/or Mississippi or able to obtain within the next 1-2 years.

    Possess or able to obtain NBIS Certified Bridge Inspector status

    Ability to lead teams through all phases of a project document production

    Technical proficiency in relevant areas of bridge design, understanding of various design methods, and a thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions

    Proficient in Microstation, OpenBridge, AASHTOWare BrR, MDX, LEAP, and other relevant design software

    Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule

    Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others

    Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, master's degree preferred

    Minimum of 3 years of related experience

    Professional Engineering license is highly preferred
