MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic and electrical systems or in the installation, repair or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in a vocational-technical school or military school will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of training for one year of experience.
College training with at least six semester hours per year in electronics or computer science will substitute for the experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar.
May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.
NOTE:
The maintenance or repair of electronic or electrical systems includes the repair or maintenance of radio or television broadcasting equipment; or electronic equipment such as radios, televisions or VCRs.

ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN ADVANCED
The incumbent is tasked with ensuring proper and efficient maintenance and repair of all moveable bridge and pump station electrical equipment and machinery.
Maintenance of these structures and facilities includes preventative maintenance, which includes making continual inspections of the structure's operational equipment, and recommending repair work and equipment replacements to the Bridge Engineer.
The incumbent performs technical and highly skilled electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations of electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
Performs required maintenance and repairs for the Districts moveable bridges and pumping stations to ensure the proper operation of the facilities.
Performs routine maintenance, trouble shoots all electrical equipment and components related to the moveable bridges and tunnels.The efficient performance of the moveable bridges and pump stations has a direct impact on traffic operations within the District, both in terms of minimizing congestion and in terms of quickly repairing malfunctions that pose safety problems.
This position is located in District 61/Unit 720/East Baton Rouge Parish of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Bridge Engineer.
The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
75% Ensures proper and efficient maintenance, repair of all District 61 moveable bridges, and pump station equipment including electrical and mechanical equipment.
Service, troubleshoot, and repair control boards and control circuits including electrical speed control, relays including phase failure relays, limit switches, and electrical component bypass circuits.
15% Service and repair electrical facilities and grounds in District 61 including generators, transformers, lighting, and electrical systems.5% Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair other electrical equipment in the District as needed.
5% May be assigned other duties as necessary including but not limited to emergency/disaster support.
