    Job Title: Product Control Specialist at Northern Trust

    Summary:

    Specifically, the Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services division provides top-tier technology and specialized expertise to cater to the unique needs of hedge funds and large institutional investors with varied portfolios.


    Role:

    As a Product Control Specialist, your primary responsibility is to be the main point of contact for clients, guiding them on trading profit & loss and valuations sourcing. You will be involved in various critical functions within the HFS, ensuring accurate valuation, daily and monthly P&L reporting, and end-of-day risk reporting.

    Major Duties:
    • Managing daily P&L support for multiple HFS clients
    • Conducting daily quality control checks and resolving exceptions
    • Engaging with clients to clarify P&L differences and address inquiries
    • Collaborating with the offshore Product Control team on QC processes
    • Delivering daily and month-end P&L statements to clients
    • Analyzing key drivers behind P&L movements
    • Overseeing price verification processes and associated reporting
    • Maintaining pricing policies for various financial types in client portfolios
    • Preparing presentations on process enhancement, valuation analysis, and technology upgrades

    Knowledge / Skills:
    • Understanding of trade lifecycle, pricing, and valuation of various asset classes
    • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with VBA, Python, or similar tools
    • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and excel under deadlines
    • Knowledge of daily P&L processes, quality control checks, and valuation reconciliation
    • Familiarity with alternative investment custodians and service providers

    Qualifications:
    • 1-5 years of experience in valuations, alternative asset operations, or P&L/performance analysis
    • Background in middle office, product control, valuation, or audit environments
    • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
