Christian Merkel

Recent graduate looking to pursue the next steps in my career as a scientist. I have a B.S. in Biochemistry, an A.A.S in biotechnology, and an accredited laboratory certificate in biomanufacturing and bioprocessing. While in school I bartended part time at a variety of bars and restaurants and connected with my community via volunteer work and philanthropy. 

During the summer of 2019, I worked as a Production Associate Intern at Rockland Immunochemicals Inc., a biopharmaceutical company in PA that specializes in antibody and large parental development. I focused on production and purification, working mostly with Protein A/G chromatography, AKTA pure, and HPLC/FPLC/UPLC. I also spent time in Quality Control conduction molecular diagnostic and QC assays like PCR, Restriction digest, ELIZA, and Western Blot. 

My Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry from The City University of New York, City College, was completed in June 2021. Prior to that, I obtained an Associates of Applied Science in Biotechnology and an accredited laboratory certificate in Biomanufacturing and Bioprocessing from Montgomery County Community College. Both of my degrees had heavy emphasis in the laboratory, with a wide variety of lab skills and protocols learned.
