    Job Description

    Job DescriptionDescription:

REACH Beyond Domestic Violence is a non-profit organization working with survivors of domestic violence to foster safety and support while engaging communities to promote healthy relationships. Our programs include 24-hour hotline services, emergency shelter, support groups, legal advocacy, specialized children's services, community-based survivor advocacy programs and community education and training.

At REACH, we believe that the way we do our work matters. The respectful, equitable relationships we work for in the world have to start with us. We do this work because we believe change is possible. We work with communities and individuals to change social norms and systems of oppression in order to prevent and ultimately end domestic violence. We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to help our agency expand and deepen our work throughout our service area and help us realize our vision: healthy and safe relationships for individuals and communities.

    Volunteer Coordinator

The ideal candidate for the Volunteer Coordinator position is someone who sees strengths in people, loves to collaborate, has excellent attention to detail and follow through on tasks, demonstrates commitment to violence prevention and social justice work, and is passionate about the impact volunteers can have on non-profit organizations.

REACH was founded by a group of volunteers who wanted to educate their community about domestic violence. Our volunteer program was heavily impacted throughout the pandemic and is in a period of regrowth. We value the impact of volunteers and envision them supporting every aspect of our work. We also know that there are many more ways we could engage, support, and develop their skills and expertise.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the care and cultivation of volunteers including recruitment, training, supervision, engagement, communication, and appreciation. They will work closely with our various teams to provide opportunities for volunteers to strengthen their skills and knowledge and deepen the organization's reach in the community.

Additionally, as part of the People and Culture team, this role will be responsible for some administrative functions at our office location in Waltham, providing consistent and organized support to the overall operation of the office.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement strategies for volunteer and internship recruitment and retention
    • Collaborate with programmatic teams to create opportunities for volunteers to support their programs
    • Coordinate and support REACH's 35+ hour domestic violence training for new volunteers and staff two-to-three times each year which will likely include evening and weekend hours. This includes leading aspects of the training.
    • Provide bi-weekly supervision for reception interns and offer support and technical assistance to staff supervising undergraduate interns in their programs.
    • Interview those interested in volunteering and place them in roles that match their interests and skills
    • Provide support to new and current volunteers as well as opportunities for deeper learning and relationship building
    • Partner with programs to create volunteer opportunities and place, train, and retain volunteers
    • Steward and care for volunteers by working with program staff to ensure support and supervision of volunteers, creating opportunities for engagement and meaningful interactions, maintaining ongoing and open communication, and implementing appreciation efforts to sustain commitment
    • Support coordination of scheduling volunteers as needed
    • Collect volunteer data including hours and feedback. Develop volunteer satisfaction measures and report on data monthly
    • Serve as the project coordinator for seasonal drives such as back to school and holiday drive, including supporting the process for organizing/distributing supplies.
    • Attend fundraising and outreach events as needed
    • Support maintenance of organizational operations
    • Other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager

All staff at REACH commit to:

    • Working to ensure that REACH's values are demonstrated in the policies and procedures of the organization, every day.
    • Working in collaboration with colleagues in other programs at the organization, participating with internal committees, and engaging with external and coalition work related to the role and/or the organization.
    • Participating in staff meetings, weekly professional supervision, and clinical supervision.

    Compensation:

    • The salary for this position ranges from $50,000-$55,000 to be paid at an hourly rate, dependent on experience and language capacity.
    • Comprehensive benefits package options including:
    • Robust benefits including health, dental, vision, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), Dependent Care Account (DCA), retirement plan with employer matching up to 3% of salary contributed, and life Insurance.
    • 20 Days (4 weeks) of Paid Vacation Time, 25 Days (5 weeks) after 3 years of employment
    • A 4-week paid sabbatical, in addition to vacation time, is available to full-time employees after 7 years of employment
    • 12 Days Paid Sick Time and 11 Paid Federal Holidays

REACH is an equal opportunity employer and provides an inclusive work environment.

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to network with community members to build relationships
    • Excellent written and verbal skills, including small and large group presentations
    • Experience with using common office computer programs and databases as well as understanding of social media platforms
    • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Fluency in Spanish preferred
    • Experience working with volunteers preferred
    • Creative, enthusiastic, energized, and proactive candidates are encouraged to apply
    • Candidates will be asked to submit to periodic background checks.

This position requires frequent, local travel. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a car and be willing to drive for appointments. REACH provides mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate.
