Job DescriptionControls EngineerGeneral Summary:
Perform detailed and complex job functions (ie. normal course of business activities).
We are looking for an experienced and highly qualified Controls Engineer to maintain, improve and oversee the development of new automated control systems.
Investigate and recommend ways to improve efficiencies in manufacturing, daily job activities on the manufacturing floor.May be required to work off shift schedule when necessary and needed for manufacturing support, startups, new line set ups and manufacturing downtime issues.
Principle Duties Responsibilities Assist with troubleshooting and repair of industrial production equipment.Perform equipment upgrades that supports improvements to safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
Provide controls assistance for current and new product teams.
Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical control and power systemsAbility to read and utilize electrical and mechanical schematics.
Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with NEC, NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
Possess proficiency in PLC / HMI programming including Omron, Mitsubishi, and Allen-BradleyThe ability to maintain and improve all control systems for existing equipment and processes.
Assist with defining and maintaining standards for controls equipment.Participate in new equipment startup activities.
Experience with integration of robotics and vision systems. Perform other duties as assigned in order to ensure achievement of section, department, or company plan. Skills Abilities RequiredAbility to prioritize workload.
Effective planning and implementation skills.
Detail oriented. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Knowledge of machine mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and materials.
Effective trouble-shooting skills.
Strong "hands-on" ability. Job requires 80% on the floor activities.
Capable of reading and understanding schematics.
Computer skills, Excel, Word, Email, Power Point, Solid works.
PLC / Robotics programming experience Minimum Level of Preparation Training Required Degree in engineering or engineering technology in a related field; or equivalent work experience.4+ years of experience as a Controls or Automation Engineer.
