    Description
    Purpose of this position


    The purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Nursing Service in assessing resident care needs and implementing appropriate action.

    Implement nursing policies and procedures. Supervise staffing for the nursing department and supervise the quality of nursing care provided to residents.

    Qualifications (to be completed by the facility)


    • Must have current license.
    • License must be free of any encumbrances
    • Must not have any disqualifying findings barring employment as stated by State or Federal regulations.
    Delegation of authority


    • Implement nursing policies and procedures.
    • Supervise nursing care provided to residents.
    • Assure adequate staffing to provide nursing care.
    Primary Functions and Responsibilities


    • Direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action.
    • Make daily resident rounds and report status of nursing care to the Director of Nursing Service and Administrator.
    • Participate in review of Quality Indicator reports and implementation of corrective actions to improve resident care.
    • Assist with analysis of incident and accident investigation reports to determine cause(s) and implement corrective action(s), when appropriate.
    • Review reports of timely completion of residents' MDS assessments and care plans with follow-up action as necessary.
    • Review residents admitted and compare physician orders with each resident's plan of care to assure appropriate implementation of physician's plan of care.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team and rehabilitation conference meetings.
