    Position: Utility Construction Technician 2

    Industry: Operational Services

    Location: South Windsor, CT 06074

    Compensation: $ $24.00 an hour depending on experience and qualifications

    Apex companies is a growth-focused environmental & utility construction company, offering services in stormwater system construction and maintenance. We are accepting applications for a traveling Utility Construction Technician 2 in South Windsor, CT.

    The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in stormwater utilities, water/wastewater management, or related fields within industrial or commercial sites. Strong familiarity with interpreting plan sets, proficiency in heavy equipment operations and a comprehensive understanding of OSHA safety regulations are essential.

    Your Responsibilities as a Utility Construction Technician 2:
    • Repair and construct stormwater infrastructure, concrete structures, underground utilities and stormwater basins throughout the central states
    • Operate hand-held, power tools and construction equipment (skid loader, excavator, dozer).
    • Travel is Monday-Friday, 85% overnight travel (lodging expenses, $55 per diem, and a company vehicle is provided for travel reimbursement)
    • Learn to develop construction and regulatory compliance techniques.
    • Document field observations.
    • Ensure safe performance of project work.

    What we're looking for:
    • GED or High School Diploma.
    • 2-4 years of construction experience.
    • Overnight travel 85% of the time.
    • Experience with operation of construction equipment (e.g. skid loader, small excavator), power tools and concrete hand tools.
    • Basic understanding of plans and specs.
    • Prior experience with repair and construction of stormwater infrastructure, concrete structures, rebar and concrete finishing, underground piping and detention/retention basins is a plus.
    • Able to perform manual labor, Lift and carry 60 pounds, work in confined spaces and under inclement weather conditions.
    • Knowledge of stormwater & sediment and erosion control.
    • Thorough understanding of safe work practices in accordance with OSHA regulations
    • Comfortable using pickups and equipment trailers while understanding DOT requirements.
    • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
