Job Specifications
The primary function of the Tax Analyst I, Income Tax is to assist the tax team to achieve its objectives, goals, and priorities for all aspects of the income tax process. In this role, you will assist in preparing, reviewing, analyzing, communicating, and reporting all income tax information for internal decision-making, internal and external reporting, and filings. You will support the monitoring of tax legislative activities, analysis, and interpretation of tax legislation, US GAAP and utility tax regulatory guidance and drive digital and analytical transformation.
SALARY RANGE: Determined by the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
Level I: $52,800 - $79,250
Level II: $63,700 - $95,650
Senior Level: $82,550 - $123,800
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Manager, Tax
LOCATION: Our Corporate Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in the preparation, forecast and reporting of the Company's US GAAP income tax provisions, in accordance with IRS, GAAP, SEC, FERC and other regulatory principles.
Assist in the coordination, data gathering, analysis, communication and timely filing of periodic tax returns and statutory filings.
Support and maintain effective internal controls and support the preparation of variance analyses and account reconciliations.
Contribute to compliance with tax laws and regulations related to assignments.
Research and timely communicate the explanation of tax legislation, rate changes, and rules.
Drive continuous improvement of tax processes using digital workflows and other tools to automate manual data entry and extractions.
Support the development of tax policies and initiatives that support and enable business strategies.
Analyze and reconcile general ledger in preparation and review of tax basis balance sheets and accrual to return calculations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive continuous improvement of tax processes using digital workflows and other tools to automate manual data entry and extractions.
Sustain Income Tax software programs and facilitate the development of real-time analytical reporting.
Other duties as assigned.
