    Director of Operations

    Exempt classification: 32 hours per week, Exempt


    Salary range:
    $92,000-$105,000

    Aptos, CA; Soquel, CA;

    Reporting to the Executive Director of Teen Kitchen Project, the Director of Operations will lead all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:

    Serve as the internal leader of the organization:Coordinate the annual operations plan and budgetLead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organizationProvide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence and support an open-door policy among all staffCoordinate regular check ins with managers of Client Services, Nutrition Services, Kitchen Program, and Executive Director to maintain deep knowledge of current challenges and successes

    FacilitiesReview of facility contracts in consultation with Executive Director.
    Ensure staff has what they need to fulfill the obligations of their job description within budgetEnsure maintenance of facilities including coordination of landscaping, janitorial, and quarterly deep cleaning of kitchenOversee SOPs for facilities and equipment with support from Department HeadsCreate and update Emergency Plans

    ProgramEngage in a monthly kitchen audit to observe directly quality control measures during each meal production shift.
    Engage in a monthly meal distribution audit to observe current processes.
    Engage in monthly meal audit of delivery reports to ensure timely delivery of meals for all clients.


    Finance, Technology, and Human ResourcesCultivate the values of Teen Kitchen Project within the organizationInstill a "coaching" culture within Teen Kitchen Project; upgrade human resources functions including training, development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance evaluation and recruitingIn partnership with the Executive Director and Bookkeeper, interpret accounting reports, providing the organization with quick access to financial information enabling strategic budgetingDevelopment and implementation of systems for reporting, measurement and supporting local revenue generationOversee all technology including computers, phones, security, and software.

    Work with IT as needed to troubleshoot.
    Develop system for technology and security managementFacilitate biweekly payrollAnnual review and updates of Employee Handbook and benefits package

    QualificationsA commitment to Teen Kitchen Project's Mission and Operating PrinciplesExperience managing staff.
    Excellent verbal and written communication. Able to communicate simply and effectivelyGood organizational skills and attention to detailVery comfortable with technologyProficient in Office 365 appsSelf-directed; comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environmentValid California driver's license and excellent driving recordAbility and desire to be in a work environment that values working as a team, relationships and giving and receiving honest feedbackSelf-led: Knows and completes responsibilities in assigned timelines, asks for clarifications when needed, has a good awareness of self

Moderate noise (i.e. nonprofit setting with office equipment, conversation from adjacent coworkers and commercial kitchen equipment.) Ability to work indoors for most of the day except for travel to clients' homes. Ability to sit or stand at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Occasional evening hours; very rarely weekend hours.
