- Work under the general direction of the Compliance and Test Managers.
- Organize test lab; maintain lab equipment, testing software, tools and testing supplies.
- Understand product testing programs, and work with the designers to explain test procedures and Standards requirements for our products.
- Troubleshoot and test for product/performance related field complaints and suggest possible solutions.
- Interact with product designers, engineers and draftspersons where required to support product development.
- Work with compliance personnel to investigate whether products are designed to meet or exceed all applicable specifications.
- Perform failure analysis on fixtures as a result of field or production line problems.
- Manage, prioritize and schedule physical testing labs to ensure proper operation, safety and cleanliness.
- Assist Testing and Compliance Manager with UL/ETL submissions, quotations, and general file maintenance.
- Facilitate and manage UL and ETL factory inspections.
- Assist, supervise and train Junior Lab Technicians.
- Perform high-level tests including EMI, Photometric, Water and Dust, and HALT/HASS testing. Must be able to complete these tests quickly and efficiently with minimal to no supervision.
- Active participation in ongoing individual training / development program.
- Set goals and objectives with Manager; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.
- Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work area.
- Follow safety rules and procedures.
- Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs and processes.
- Perform backup functions to other team members and to immediate supervisor as instructed. Engage in cross-training to support backup efforts as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- AS Degree in technical field preferred, HS Diploma minimum.
- Strong working knowledge of UL, CSA and IEC IP standards and testing procedures.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction and other position-related tasks.
- Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
- Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- High level of self-initiative and dependability.
- Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
- Must be flexible and willing to pitch in as needed.
- Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Must possess positive, can do attitude.
- Lab equipment including, but not limited to: voltmeters, ammeters, power analyzer, thermocoupling equipment, scale, caliper, micrometer, calculator, thermostat, light meter, power hand tools, soldering equipment, table saws, band saws, data acquisition, etc. Must be able to maneuver and lift a 50-pound lighting fixture unassisted.
