    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Test Lab Technician to join the Kenall Team in Kenosha, WI.

    What Will You Do?

    Perform testing functions required for new product development and to integrate new technologies into existing product lines.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Work under the general direction of the Compliance and Test Managers.
    • Organize test lab; maintain lab equipment, testing software, tools and testing supplies.
    • Understand product testing programs, and work with the designers to explain test procedures and Standards requirements for our products.
    • Troubleshoot and test for product/performance related field complaints and suggest possible solutions.
    • Interact with product designers, engineers and draftspersons where required to support product development.
    • Work with compliance personnel to investigate whether products are designed to meet or exceed all applicable specifications.
    • Perform failure analysis on fixtures as a result of field or production line problems.
    • Manage, prioritize and schedule physical testing labs to ensure proper operation, safety and cleanliness.
    • Assist Testing and Compliance Manager with UL/ETL submissions, quotations, and general file maintenance.
    • Facilitate and manage UL and ETL factory inspections.
    • Assist, supervise and train Junior Lab Technicians.
    • Perform high-level tests including EMI, Photometric, Water and Dust, and HALT/HASS testing. Must be able to complete these tests quickly and efficiently with minimal to no supervision.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Active participation in ongoing individual training / development program.
    • Set goals and objectives with Manager; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.
    • Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work area.
    • Follow safety rules and procedures.
    • Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs and processes.
    • Perform backup functions to other team members and to immediate supervisor as instructed. Engage in cross-training to support backup efforts as directed.

    Qualifications


    CRITICAL SKILLS / EXPERTISE:

    • AS Degree in technical field preferred, HS Diploma minimum.
    * - 4 years related testing experience in a research and development environment preferred. No direct testing experience required

    • Strong working knowledge of UL, CSA and IEC IP standards and testing procedures.
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction and other position-related tasks.
    • Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
    • Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
    • High level of self-initiative and dependability.
    • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
    • Must be flexible and willing to pitch in as needed.
    • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
    • Ability to work within a team environment.
    • Must possess positive, can do attitude.

    EQUIPMENT USED:

    • Lab equipment including, but not limited to: voltmeters, ammeters, power analyzer, thermocoupling equipment, scale, caliper, micrometer, calculator, thermostat, light meter, power hand tools, soldering equipment, table saws, band saws, data acquisition, etc. Must be able to maneuver and lift a 50-pound lighting fixture unassisted.
