    Roles & Responsibilities:

    The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) at the Alzheimer's and Dementia Research Program for Asian Americans and Other Minority Groups, led by Dr. Clara Li, at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, assists clinical studies sponsored by the NIH and industry. The goals are to develop new ways to detect, diagnose, treat, and prevent Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementia (AD/ADRD) in older Asian Americans and other minority groups. The research program offers a comprehensive research evaluation primarily for older Asian Americans who speak Mandarin, Cantonese, or English. The evaluation includes a clinical interview and medical exam by a study physician specializing in memory problems, an assessment of memory and other thinking abilities, and a research blood draw. The evaluation also includes an annual follow-up visit. In addition, there are neuroimaging and biomarker studies aiming to examine the biological basis of memory and other thinking challenges in Asian American older adults. The program also conducts intervention studies for AD/ADRD in older Asian Americans.

    The CRC's responsibility to assist the Principal Investigator in program operations and start-up, budget negotiation, oversee budget signatory administrative elements, oversee the collection of data under the PI supervision, including the performance of study visit tasks, manage all regulatory folders and FDA requirements, report to the IRB, and collaborate with outside vendors to ensure the safety of the participants and accuracy of data reporting. S/he is the main point of contact for all participants in the research program and must possess excellent communication and follow-up skills, respect patient privacy, and possess minimum office / professional skills to collect, record, and utilize data in these trials to assist in the daily activities of clinical research studies, including collection and organization of study information. Assists in preparing grant applications and documents (e.g., Institutional Review Board, Grants, and Contracts Office), and provides clerical support to Clinical Research Coordinators and others in assigned areas.

    Responsibilities
    • Conducts routine and standardized human subjects research using appropriate research or interview techniques specific to subject matter of the research project, under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior clinical research staff.
    • Assists in the activities related to clinical research including, but not limited to: obtaining informed consent, screening participants for eligibility, registering patients with sponsoring agencies, administering questionnaires and answering telephone calls.
    • Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
    • Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with Mount Sinai policies and procedures. Ensures accurate, confidential and complete compilation of data.
    • May secure and ship clinical specimens as required by the protocol.
    • May assist in the preparation for regulatory agency site visits.
    • Performs other related duties
    Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred or a combination of relevant research experience and education
    • 0-2 years of research/human subjects experience
    • Can speak, write, type and read Cantonese, Mandarin, and English proficiently
