WPVI serves close to 7 million people 2+ who reside in The Delaware Valley, an area covering Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware.
In the past year Action News has won 2,633 out of 2,662 newscasts in households for a winning percentage of 99.8%.
In an average day Action News captures nearly 45% of all adult 25-54 news viewers. In 2019, WPVI celebrated 100 years of coverage of the Thanksgiving Day Parade
6ABC Action News / WPVI-TV is the news leader in the market, our team of content editors embody creativity and are skilled in making videos and sound complement the storytelling on every level.
This key newsroom position requires attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, a calm demeanor, and an ability to troubleshoot under high-pressure situations and react accordingly.
Responsibilities:
- Edits content from concept to completion. (voiceovers, reporter packages, and special report pieces)
- Collaborate with content producers and writers on the team
- Proactively go through multiple show rundowns, creating content that matches the script with precision on a deadline.
- Works with both talent and producers to deliver not only onair content but content for all platforms.
- Download stories from ABC NewsOne and CNN, and as needed able to assume responsibility for coordinating the edits of this content to ensure a successful newscast.
Required Experience:
- Ability to multitask, prioritize & manage tasks simultaneously in a fastpaced newsroom environment
- This position requires a flexible work schedule, and you must be willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be knowledgeable in nonlinear editing and have experience using Adobe Premiere
- Must be proficient with basic video and audio principles.
- Must be able to take direction and be a "great teammate" who is not afraid of an intense news environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Dalet is preferred
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
