Bard College invites applications for a two-year visiting professor of U.S. History at the assistant level, beginning in Fall 2024.
The successful candidate will be able to teach survey and advanced courses that also will be cross-listed in the American Studies program.
Priority will be given to applicants specializing in historical periods before the early 20th-century.Candidates will be expected to be able to offer American history survey courses and are preferred to have completed all the requirements for the doctoral degree by August 2024.
Bard is a selective co-educational liberal arts college located in the Hudson Valley 90 miles north of New York City.
Application Instructions
To apply, please submit a cover letter describing current research and teaching experiences, a resumé, a sample of written work (no more than article or chapter length), sample course syllabi for one survey and one specialized course, student evaluations (if available), and three names of references who might provide letters of recommendation to Interfolio ).
Review of applications will begin on March 26th, with interviews to be conducted by Zoom or Skype.Compensation: $70,000-$75,000, dependent on experience
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting.
Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
