PURPOSE & SCOPE:


The production controller will ensure every item is produced in a timely manner by making sure the daily schedule is being met.

The production controller will be part of the production process from start to finish. This position works with the Design Engineering group, Manufacturing Engineering group, Customer Service, and Purchasing. The production controller participates in sales forecasting, inter-office communication and problem-solving.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manages production schedules to ensure 100% ontime delivery of all customer orders using the Manufacturing ERP system and Excel.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports performance to the schedule of production activities.
  • Assist the Manufacturing department to actively manage the production, schedule work hours and resources.
  • Identify and resolve supplier and internal errors that result in schedule discrepancies.
  • Participate in project milestone meetings and status customer service inquiries.
  • Validate BOMs to engineering documentation for accuracy of each other.
  • Create assembly drawing packets complete with workorder router (traveler), completion dates, and instruction for all operations.
  • Responsible for the analysis of job order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Read production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
  • Research and assign manufacturing lead times and due dates on parts, as needed.
  • Interface with manufacturing, purchasing, and planning personnel on material status and production planning issues.
  • Prioritize work schedules and ensure tasks are carried out simultaneously to optimize production levels
  • Position requires a balance of computerbased tasks & physical tasks to be performed on the production floor

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of work experience in a similar field or fast paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multitasking environment and work constructively under pressure
  • Good oral and written communication
  • Exceptional computerbased skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrable problem solving and analytic skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly driven and motivated
  • Effective time management and adaptability to changing situations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Edge and/or similar programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

Working Conditions:


  • Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer is necessary, sometimes for extended periods
  • Ability to safely move about in a variety of work environments, from office to manufacturing floor, and other
  • Ability to remain on a manufacturing shop floor, sometimes for extended periods, while meeting specified safety requirements (i.e., vision protection, foot/toe protection, and others as appropriate)

PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience with expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, and inventory management
  • APICS/ ASCM certified
