- Maintain and organize electronic student data records, regarding student progress, challenges, and interactions in the classroom and common spaces.
- Establish high academic and behavioral expectations for all students and make recommendations for the necessary supports to ensure all students can be successful in the early childhood setting.
- Support staff in designing and tracking positive behavior supports for students.
- Establish a PIRT protocol including a digital Request For Assistance (RFA)
- Establish and manage a case file for each child with a RFA, including a PIRT intervention Plan if needed.
- Conduct classroom visits to observe, coach, model, and make written and verbal recommendations and provide feedback regarding a child's intervention plan.
- Modify and adapt a student's intervention plan as needed throughout the year.
- Monitor the progress of a child and if necessary make a recommendation to the CST team after documented interventions.
- Hold, acquire, and or maintain Handle with Care training and work to train all staff.
- Assist all staff members in obtaining pertinent data to track student conduct and generate parent-friendly reports for improving teaching and learning.
- Provide professional development to staff members on best practices with students with behavioral challenges.
- Uses data to monitor key indicators, develop strategies to increase compliance to policy, and assess the effectiveness of early childhood practices .
- Plan and implement child development activities that manage teacher directed and child initiated experiences.
- Participate on the I&RST Team as the early childhood resident expert.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. NJ Instructional Certificate, Educational services certificate or other relevant certificate to include : LDTC Learning Disabilities Teaching Consultant, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, or Higher
Consultant, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, or Higher (Preferred in Mental Health, Social Work or Related Field such as Psychology, Sociology or Education)
2. Ability to support staff with addressing students exhibiting persistent challenging behavior
3. Experience teaching and/or working with preschool students exhibiting behavioral challenges
4. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of early childhood education, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and
diagnosis, and research related to students needing to learn early childhood education.
5. Have knowledge and training in early childhood education, child growth and development, the district curriculum, and the four supports of the Pyramid Model, and positive behavior supports.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
7. Ability to develop and or execute the principal's vision for climate and culture.
8. An understanding of educational policy and practice
9. Ability to effectively communicate to students and families about behavioral expectations.
10. Ability to motivate and inspire stakeholders toward a common goal
11. Experience with Mac OS 10.5 or greater/Windows XP and 7
RESPONSIBILITY: The Preschool Intervention Referral Specialist collaborates and consults with the Preschool Instructional Coach ( Formerly Master
Teacher) to adapt and modify teaching practices to help students access preschool state standards.
FUNCTION: He/She will assume professional responsibility to provide learning experiences and observations of assigned caseloads to ensure a
positive and safe classroom climate in the early childhood setting. The PIRS pushes into I&RST meetings to provide resources to the teacher
and make recommendations if and when additional services are needed.
