    The Work You Will Do:


    The Department of Commerce (FloridaCommerce) is seeking a Compliance Officer to work within the Office of Long-Term Resiliency (OLTR) to ensure program compliance with all state and federal regulations.

    The incumbent is expected to develop and execute compliance monitoring/audit programs, review policies and procedures for compliance, and advise management on possible risks.

    Pay:

    Specific duties and responsibilities include:


    Help Florida recover The Department of Commerce (FloridaCommerce) is seeking a Compliance Officer to work within the Office of Long-Term Resiliency (OLTR) to ensure program compliance with all state and federal regulations.

    The incumbent is expected to develop and execute compliance monitoring/audit programs, review policies and procedures for compliance, and advise management on possible risks.

    This position is an advocate for program activities; serves as a participant in team assignments, process improvements, special projects, and fosters teamwork;

    Specific duties and responsibilities include:

    THE HIRED CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING


    Assist in the development of program goals and objectives, identifying resources, interpreting statutes and rules, and providing technical and administrative assistance.

    Participate, as needed, in the development and revision of compliance-related policies and procedures.
    Perform regular internal monitoring/audits of disaster recovery programs, procedures, policies, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
    Review contract and subrecipient agreement deliverables to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
    Review the OLTR website for compliance with federal regulations.
    Provides consultative services and technical assistance to OLTR staff on issues related to compliance and monitoring.


    Conduct desktop and onsite monitoring on activities and expenditures of assigned projects to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines and contract requirements.

    Maintain good working relationships and keep in close coordination with partnering agencies.
    Prepare reports and analyses and make recommendations to team to determine program action.


    Review external best practices to ensure a high level of program execution and make recommendations to management if changes are needed.

    Coordinate agreement close out process with program staff.
    Assist team on special projects, as needed.
    10% - 25% Travel required to conduct monitorings, compliance reviews, and other audits as required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Preference may be given to candidates:


    Bachelor's Degree preferred, fields of study in Accounting, Business, Construction management or related field is not required but is a plus.

    One year plus experience in CDBG-DR, housing, community development, compliance/contract management or related fields is desired. Additional related experience may be substituted for the years of experience.
