    Responsibilities:

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary/Objective

    The Component Production Department encompasses a broad range of products from circuit card assemblies (CCA) to high-performance angular rate sensors. The position is responsible for the operation of a section within the Manufacturing function focused on component assembly, integration, and test. The Component Production Group Lead requires day-to-day management of their manufacturing area, overseeing a group of electrical and mechanical assemblers and technicians and ensuring an efficient operation in achieving business targets. The position will require strong leadership and line management to the production team to coordinate their workloads and provide support to ensure that the team delivers efficiently, on-time and high-quality. Decisions and results have an impact on the overall business and affects the companys image and focus on quality.

    General and Task Management Duties

    • Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards
    • Plan and monitor all work orders to ensure timely completion
    • Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements
    • Implement standard manufacturing process, such as, 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and Lean Six Sigma
    • Ensure equipment is within calibration date and all systems are functioning correctly and are maintained through a preventative maintenance plan
    • Ensure all records are completed appropriately to include ESD checks
    • Ensure ESD best practices are being followed
    • Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated
    • Ensure quality concerns are escalated in a timely manner and root cause corrective action is implemented
    • Ensure achievement of production throughput against stated capacity targets.
    • Ensure the team are aware of day-to-day priorities, targets and responsibilities
    • Lead adherence to procedures and instructions
    • Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools
    • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
    • Identify business improvement opportunities within BlueHalo
    • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
    • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department

    People Management Duties

    • Responsible for training staff on processes and maintaining staff certifications for soldering and quality requirements
    • Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success
    • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure
    • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure work orders are maintained for easy access
    • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected
    • Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables
    • Provide product expertise within team, and respond to staff queries
    • Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities. Provide support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team

    Relationship Management Duties

    • Coordinates with the quality organization to ensure incoming material inspection, in-process and end-item inspections are completed in a timely manner
    • Liaise and communicate with other departments, especially the manufacturing engineering team, and ensures an effective interface is maintained
    • Provide timely feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements and delivery in line with BlueHalo and Customer requirements
    • Provide technical expertise to the organization on manufacturing

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Exercise considerable initiative/judgement in work methods and in interpreting and delegating work requirements/goals
    • Ability to lead by example, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity whilst demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities
    • Able to interpret technical drawings, documentation and specifications
    • Demonstrated experience working in the defense industry and understanding of auditing agency, such as, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
    • Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time
    • Familiar with process flow control
    • IPC soldering standards and circuit card, harness, and system assembly
    • Troubleshooting, advanced debugging, and testing skills
    • Implementing systems for continuous improvement
    • Advanced problem solving and communication skills
    • Conscientious and detail oriented
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools
    • Knowledge of Hardware Interfacing and Software Test Set-ups
    • Manufacturing Resource Planning System and Reporting Software experience
    • Experience in process analytics and metrics reporting

    Supervisory Responsibility

    Leads a diverse team of electrical and mechanical assemblers and technicians.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional production environment. This role routinely uses production and test equipment and standard office equipment.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are nominally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Qualifications:

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelors of Science degree in manufacturing, industrial, systems, mechanical, or electrical engineering or in a related field. Professional experience can be considered.
    • 5-10 years related experience in electronics and/or manufacturing with understanding of work order management and manufacturing performance tracking systems.
    • A U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security Clearance
