    Medical Assistant

    The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of a licensed physicians and APRN.

    Responsibilities include:

    1. Support them within their work.

    2. May be responsible for some administrative duties, such as maintaining patient schedule and answering phones

    3. Prepare patients for their visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes

    4. Help them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment

    5. Verify patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment

    6. Assist with patient intake

    7. Assist with all in-office procedures, preparing the bed and the room for the procedure. Make sure the physicians have everything they will need for the procedure

    8. Ensure all equipment is properly sterilized and ready for use

    9. Examine and prepare patients for surgery and record vital statistics

    10. Take care of pre- and post-surgical requirements

    11. Gather lab specimens or arrange for pre-surgical examinations

    12. Suture removal and changing surgical dressings

    13. Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt

    14. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

    15. Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential.

    16. Help to keep the office in a clean sterile condition by wiping down the exam rooms on a regular basis. Decontaminating the patient contact spaces on a daily basis.

    17. Entering Physician operative notes and consult notes into our billing system

    18. Enter patient history into our EHR system

    19. Duties may include light to moderate lifting and light furniture of medical device assembly.

    20. Keep the laser clean and in good working condition.

    21. Maintain all Exam and Procedure rooms by keeping all supplies well stocked and available at all times.

    22. Dress code- Employee should wear the office scrubs- Employee should come to work appearing fresh and polished, closed toe shoes, tennis shoes in white, grey or black, manicured nails with modest color, no visible piercings or tattoos.

    23. Light laundry of all in house linens, maintaining quality control of linens and ordering.

    24. Monitor individual email.

    25. Maintain patient work notes, DWC paperwork, therapy notes

    26. Help stock and replenish refrigerators

    27. Maintain and service the Autoclave, with quarterly cleanings, maintain and service other medical equipment as directed. (i.e. Blood pressure machine, Cautery Machine, Laser etc.)

    28. Any other essential job function

    Training and Certification

    Medical assistants must have graduated from a medical assistant program and either be certified or working towards certification.

    Skills and Characteristics

    Must have strong communication skills and be able to give clear instructions and listen. Must pay close attention to details to ensure patient's safety and the best outcome. MA should have good visual acuity and manual dexterity as well as good hand – eye coordination to handle instruments, administer medications and provide direct care. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, as well as be able to multitask between administrative duties and performing specific hands-on procedures.
