Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Financial Management for the Marshall School of Business School, the Financial Analyst II will support the financial management team in the day-to-day oversight over the School's financial reporting, business processes, and compliance function.

Areas of responsibility include monitoring, reviewing, and verifying accounting records for compliance, audit, and customer support for the centralized and decentralized operations across the School.

The position supports the Marshall Business Office team with monitoring the School's internal business processes, ensuring compliance with university and School policies and procedures, and staying current with USC's financial systems.

This position will serve as the primary contact supporting stakeholders across the organization with financial aid, scholarships, and awards payments.

This Financial Analyst II will play a critical role in the School's annual fiscal year close.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Support of reconciliation reports across all account types; expenditure, compensation, revenue, student aid, etc.
  • Coordinate with the School's scholarship award (financial aid), allocation and reconciliation process.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the new STARS project account hierarchy including regular reporting and support for faculty and academic departments.
  • Develop with maintaining critical reports for internal and external reporting as needed.
  • Support the Senior Associate Director and the Assistant Dean and Director, Finance with oversight of Journal Entries (JEs).
  • Support the Senior Associate Director and Assistant Dean and Director, Finance with data analytics related to upcoming fiscal year 2024 close.
  • Support the Assistant Dean of Finance with Workday Financials account maintenance process including new account creation process, freezing retired accounts, and FDM change requests.
  • Review and monitor corporate card activity including audit and compliance.
  • Review and monitor travel and expense activity and troubleshoot issues for internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate requests for Workday Financial access and audit.
  • Support School wide stakeholders with escalated request around USC expenditure policies and procedures and Marshall School guidelines and internal practices.
  • Duties and projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong financial and budget management and reporting skills, preferably in a university setting.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic and problemsolving skills
  • Strong organizational, collaborative, and interpersonal relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in addition to criticalthinking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, handle multiple priorities, tasks, demands and time sensitive pressurized situations.
  • Experience working in a fastpaced environment; and commitment to completing tasks on time and to the highest ethical and professional standards.
