How to Apply:

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Some prior experience in the floral industry preferred.
Previous experience in a grocery retail setting preferred
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Knowledge of merchandising techniques a plus
Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical requirements:

Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
Occasionally reaching above and at shoulder level
Standing, walking, bending up to 8 hours per day
Twisting, squatting, and kneeling
Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
Driving moving equipment (Forklift / Power jack)
Working near hazardous equipment (Baler, trash compactor, floral knives)
Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Receiving dock)
Exposure to extremes in temperature (Floral Cooler)
Working at heights (Step Stool)

Responsibilities:

As a Floral clerk at Gelson's, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the floral department.

You will be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring our shelves are stocked, aisles are organized, and customers have a seamless shopping experience.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product inquiries, locating items, and resolving any customer concerns.
Receive and unload plants and supplies from pallets and store products in appropriate designated storage areas.
Process plants and flowers and prepare supplies and clean containers.
Price flowers, plants and arrangements and monitor promotional items ensuring the product is well stocked and accurately priced.
Assist in displaying arrangements according to merchandising
Maintain floral department by watering flowers and plants, keeping the area clean and presentable.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
Embrace new challenges and be a flexible team player, taking on responsibilities as needed.
Operate cash registers and handle customer transactions accurately.
Other duties and responsibilities as required.
