How you will Achieve More with Intellia:
As a Software Engineer III, you will join our Informatics Software group's newly formed Analytics Platform Engineering team.
This team is focused on building software services that enable data democratization and accelerate data-driven decision-making across Intellia's R&D programs.
As a member of this team you will design, develop, and maintain secure and efficient data pipelines, catalogs, and access controls for our data lakehouse.
Your expertise in role-based access control, backend development and database modelling will help us achieve our goals of providing a unified, secure platform to ingest, process, manage and analyze large volumes of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from various sources.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Research & Early Development, Clinical, Legal) to understand data needs and design access controls.
Contribute to data democratization efforts while enforcing access controls on proprietary and sensitive data.
Design and develop role-based access control across our services to ensure data privacy, integrity, and compliance.
Develop and maintain ETL pipelines feeding the data lakehouse.
Construct data catalogs, schemas, and ontologies for data discovery, lineage, and traceability to organize data assets within the data lakehouse.
Adopt DevOps principles and utilize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and monitoring.Develop and implement robust RESTful web services.
Participate in integration of product updates by performing code reviews, end-user acceptance testing, and communication of updates and releases to key stakeholders.
Stay updated on big data, data warehousing, and data governance trends.About You:
3+ years of experience in backend software engineering, or related fields
Experience with role-based access control (RBAC) principles and implementation
Strong programming skills in Python and object-oriented design.
Experience with frameworks like FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic.
Experience with data catalogs, modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and SQL using tools such as Debezium, Kafka and Prefect, AWS EMR.
Familiarity with columnar formats (e.g., Parquet), Apache iceberg, relational databases, S3, and ORMs
Knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and GitHub Actions.
Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and version control tools like Git.
Experience with COTS systems like LIMS (Labvantage) are a plus
Experience building GxP compliant systems is a plus.
BS in Computer Science or related degree is preferred.
Meet your future team
The Informatics team consists of two teams including computational scientists and software engineers. Software engineers work with their scientific counterparts to streamline workflows and create web-based data services. The Informatics team performs development and operational functions of our AWS cloud-based infrastructure. We work with several remote domain specific contractors to supplement internal resources.
The Analytics Platform Engineering team focuses on enabling self-service access to trusted data across Intellia while ensuring strict governance and role-based access control on proprietary, sensitive, and confidential data.
We are primarily remote with the occasional visit to the laboratory when onsite testing is required.
By utilizing modern development methodologies and remote conferencing tools we have maintained a high level of productivity and software delivery.
