SUMMARY

Performs a variety of set up and operation duties to prepare and construct foam sub-components and inserts to fit and cushion any container configurations and sizes and makes self-inspections.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing. Ability to read and interpret 2D prints and 3D models.
  • Selects stock and cuts sheet stock to proper dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operates and performs daily operator maintenance of foam processing and machining equipment including but not limited to Slabber, Convoluter, Die Press, Thermal Bonder, Apex Routers, and Water Jets.
  • Stacks, packs, seals labels materials for palletization.
  • Removes and processes foam scrap as required.
  • Uses computer network to bring up file at machine center. Set adjustments, pressures, etc. according to charts, tables for foam type and dimensions. Operates equipment to obtain proper cuts and pieces. Checks parts for acceptance. Makes first piece inspection. Resolves and/or brings to attention of group leader, supervisor cut file problems and to attention of cut file programmer.
  • Performs in process inspection of product.
  • Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Follows prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision. Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Maintains daily production and other records as required.
  • Performs 5S cleaning and organizing requirements on a daily basis.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.

  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute nonstandard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
