    Essential Functions:

    1. Ensures that clients have access, as needed, to all five pillars of the social determinants of health with a trauma informed lens through Agency services and/or community partners.
    2. Supervise, coach, and develop the accounting staff to build capacity, strengthen bench strength and provide oversight of day-to day operations to ensure business office operations conform to agency policies and procedures, stakeholders' expectations, and promote an agency-wide, team-oriented work environment. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, onboarding of staff, volunteers, and interns.
    3. Process accounts receivables by: (a) preparing monthly billings; (b) collecting and posting revenues; and (c) preparing monthly aging accounts, reconciliation reports, and performing subsequent follow-up and bad debt write-offs, and giving timely notification to the Controller and respective program.
    4. Prepare the program financial tracking sheets, review and track the monthly expenditures and compare with the budgets authorized for the programs: running General Ledgers reports. Sets up new General Ledger and customer/vendors accounts in accounting software.
    5. Prepare general journal, adjusting entries and record into the accounting for the month end closing.
    6. Assist the program manager in the preparation of the forecasts and compare with the budgets authorized: propose the program adjustments in order to correct the deviations existed in the budgets. Assists the Controller & Chief Operations Officer in the preparation of the agency's operating budget and budgets that support the various requirements of our contracts and grants.
    7. Support and/or prepare financial forecasts, statements and recurring reports with the assistance of the Controller for the executive team, Board of Directors, government agencies, United Way, and other funding sources. Support and/or prepare other monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports within the prescribed time frames.
    8. Assist internal and external audit preparation and support. Assists the Controller to plan, develop, and implement changes to the accounting system in response to agency needs, including controls and documentation.
    9. Analyze assigned accounts monthly by reviewing transactions in the General Ledger as follows: (a) Excel spreadsheet tracking monthly expenditures and budget (including variances); and (b) General Ledger reports detailing monthly transactions.
    10. Serve as the liaison between business office and program management, communicating needs and concerns so the Chief Operations Officer and Controller in order for issues to be addressed as appropriate.
    11. Maintain good relationships with stakeholders (including current and potential clients, community and co-workers), focusing on providing excellent and culturally sensitive customer service and presenting a positive image of the agency in all community and stakeholder interactions.
    12. Maintain a working environment which encourages mutual respect, promotes respectful and congenial relationships between employees and is free from all forms of harassment.
    13. Perform other duties as assigned, including presentations to community groups and organizations, in accordance with the agency's "team" philosophy.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Training/Experience:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, and at least five (5) years of experience in an accounting position.
    2. Must have at least 3 years experience supervising staff and high-functioning teams.
    3. Knowledge of accounting software, preferably fund accounting for non-profits, desirable; and skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), analytical skills and strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    4. Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
    5. Staff will be required to submit proof of their vaccination status or may request to be exempt from vaccination due to a religious and/or medical accommodation.
    6. Certificate or license, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner, as applicable.
    7. State of Texas vehicle operator's license and proof of liability insurance, as applicable.
