- Dispatch vehicle drivers using PC based program.
- Responsible for communicating with drivers and customers via phone or email for dispatching.
- Responsible for relaying work orders, route rescheduling and assisting the driver with any inquiries.
- Responsible for keeping track of the driver's location and a number of hours driven to make sure the driver leaves/arrives on time for scheduled freight appointments.
- Ensure drivers are following DOT compliance regulations and are being followed; daily documents are turned in for tracking.
- Dispatching drivers by relaying pickup/delivery information as well as routing.
- Minimizing empty miles, maximizing revenue-generating miles
- Updating delivery/pickup board throughout the day
- Maintain professional relationships with customers via phone and email.
- Constant communication/interaction with drivers, Carriers, Operations, Customers, Managers, and Buyer/Traders.
- Complete forms and spreadsheets as assigned.
- Ensure all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual paperwork/reports are completed and on time.
- Complete fleet insurances, registration, and inspections are completed on time.
- Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions.
- Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
- Process customer orders and assist with developing delivery schedules
- Customer service support; promptly respond to emails and phone inquiries
- Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ yrs. of experience working within a transportation department, dispatching and office experience
- 2+ yrs. customer service experience speaking directly with customers via phone/email.
- Experience in knowledge of the DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation and Laws
- Industry experience in scrap, metal preferred.
- Working knowledge of the delivery area.
- Ability to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little or no supervision.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

- Experienced using Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency in Excel, Internet, Rimas, Shared Logic softwares.
- Comfortable re-prioritizing and changing plans throughout the day based on guidance from the Yard Manager.

- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
- Must be able to work overtime hours as required.
- Contact customers to provide delivery information and updates.
- Frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Specific vision includes close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
- Lifts up to 10 pounds from the floor to waist level and able to carry such objects for at least 30 feet.
- Physically able to participate in sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Works in office environment.
- Works at a desk location for extended periods of time to perform normal daily tasks

Metalico is a leading full-service, broadly diversified scrap metal recycler, principally operating in the Northeastern United States. Our scrap operations source, buy, process, and sell four distinct groups of commodity metals for use in the manufacture of new products: +We recycle scrap steel and iron, which is sold primarily to domestic mills and foundries. +We recycle non-ferrous metals, principally aluminum, copper, lead, and nickel-based steel and high temperature alloys.
