Do you have a love for horses? Are you motivated to help others enrich their riding skills by guiding them in proper riding procedures? Saddle up and spend your summer as part of the Girl Scouts Camp Staff


Where you will work:


Camp Winacka - A traditional rustic camp with spectacular views. The camp features a pool, miles of hiking trails, green building including a new environmental center and two lakes. Campers choose from programs focusing on aquatics, horses, arts and adventure. Campers and staff sleep in open-air cabins with built-in bunk beds, in platform tents with bunk beds or on cots under the stars.


Your summer will look like this:

Leading a safe, fun horse program appropriate for all ages and abilities of campers, assisting the Equestrian Director and horse program unit staff under direct supervision.


  • Participating in the development and implementation of horse and general camp program activities.
  • Helping teach campers horseback riding, grooming and other relevant skills. Occasionally assists in riding arena or on trail
  • Assisting with feeding and care of camp horses
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Experience and Skills:


Here's what it takes:


  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work with children and staff of different ages
  • 23 years' experience working with and caring for horses
  • Experience teaching westernstyle horseback riding lessons preferred
  • Lifeguard, wilderness first aid or other advanced first aid preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or able to obtain certification before the first day of work.
  • Must be willing to work in an outdoor setting and live on camp premises during the summer.
  • Valid drivers' license, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportation (Daily and/or occasional travel may be required. Must be comfortable driving narrow, winding mountain roads with passengers in mini or cargo vans)
