Scientific Employee (d/m/w) - Salary Group 13 TV-L Berlin Universities:
Part-time employment is possible if necessary.

Job Description:

The REMISSION project, funded by the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research), aims to identify and evaluate critical points in the sewer network for methane emissions.

The goal is to develop a model that allows for the determination of methane formation and emission potential in wastewater networks.

This model will aid in the localization of emission or formation hotspots in the network, as well as the derivation of necessary protective measures (personnel and explosion protection) for advising operators.

Special measurement systems will be developed for the development and calibration of the model. Comprehensive measures to reduce emissions will be identified.

The focus of the project is on providing the fundamentals and experimental data for the development and calibration of the model, and the assessment of methane emissions in wastewater sewer networks in Germany

The tasks include:

  • Literature research on methane formation and emissions in wastewater treatment plants and sewer networks, as well as existing models for prediction.
  • Experimental tests at the sewer research facility of the Berlin Water Works.
  • Measurements in the sewer network.
  • Sampling in the sewer network and laboratory analysis.
  • Data evaluation and cleansing.
  • Calculation of methane emissions in selected sections of the sewer network.
  • Development and testing of reduction measures in the sewer network.
