Position Summary:
Designs, integrates, or improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for supervising the assembly of airframes and the installation of parts and other equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Identifies opportunities to improve products or reduce costs by providing manufacturing decision- making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirementsEvaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operatorsDecides where each part of the aircraft will be placed and makes sure the support structure is strong enough to carry any excess weightDevelops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods equipment, and conferring with equipment vendorsDetermines root causes of failures and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methodsImproves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layoutIncorporates new methods and processes to improve existing operationsSupervises technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, or other engineersTroubleshoots new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processesReviews product designs for manufacturability or completenessTrains production personnel in new or existing methodsCommunicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processesDesigns, installs, or troubleshoots manufacturing equipmentMaintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulationsKeeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special serviceMaintains product and process database by writing computer programs; entering dataCompletes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.*The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any timeEducation, Experience and Qualifications:Education: B.S.

in mechanical, aeronautical, or civil engineeringExperience: 5-7 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experienceMust be a U.S.

citizenAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship)

Holds and able to maintain a valid U.S. Driver's licenseMust pass pre-placement drug screen and background investigationPhysical Requirements:
Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods - 9 hours minimumPhysically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs unassistedMay be exposed to high level noise, dust, and vibration and chemical fumes (within OSHA limits)Continuous use of both hands including grasping, pulling, and pushingWalking and balancing on even and uneven surfacesMust be able to stoop, kneel, climb, bend, crawl, and be able to reach overhead and below the shoulderAble to work in a non-climate controlled environment
