:What does the Watershed Protection Department do?

POSITION
OVERVIEW:


The position will work with a team of engineers, GIS professionals, IT professionals, planners, and others to develop, process, review, and publish data and tools related to the City's floodplain management and flood risk education efforts.

The duties of this position include the creation and maintenance of much of the spatially-enabled data used by for floodplain management and flood risk analysis along with development and maintenance of the web

  • The position plays a key role in the management and distribution of the flood risk data and associated information developed by the Modeling and Floodplain Office Section to other groups within the City and to the public. The position also will frequently perform geoprocessing tasks and review of spatial data, database management, software and tool support, and preparation of data and exhibits. The position may serve on various Department and Citywide crossfunctional teams and committees associated with data management, acquisition, and presentation/distribution of data to the public. The position also may provide user support and training for division staff working with the flood risk and associated datasets, prepare and provide exhibits in support of outreach efforts and requests from the public, assist in the review of and response to flood riskrelated questions from the public and development community, and perform occasional field work in support of the sections various drainage system analysis efforts.

    Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience:


  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team to complete a large data processing or tool/software development project.
  • Experience with ArcGIS ArcMap / ArcGIS Professional for the development and management of spatial datasets, geoprocessing of spatial data, and development of maps and exhibits with the associated tools.
