    School Sign Language Interpreter


    Position: School Sign Language Interpreter
    Location: Winston Salem, NC
    Hours: Full-Time
    Days: Monday - Friday

    Job Description:


    We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our educational team in Winston Salem, NC. The successful candidate will work one-on-one with students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade and beyond, providing interpretation services to facilitate effective communication and learning.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide sign language interpretation for students in various educational settings.
    • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa accurately.
    • Adjust interpretation methods to meet each student's communication needs.
    • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support students' educational goals.
    • Assist in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) related to communication needs.
    • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
    • Monitor students' progress and participation.
    • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score.
    • Interpreter certification (e.g., RID, NAD, or state certification) preferred.
    • Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in a school environment desirable.
    • Strong sign language skills and interpreting proficiency.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
    • Commitment to an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

    Pay Rate: Hourly rate TBD
