Job Objective:
Under the direction of the department Director and/or designee, performs a wide variety of clerical tasks, technical duties, and transportation for all radiology modalities requiring a high degree of accuracy with latitude for independent initiative and judgment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Technical Support
- Assist technologist with moving patients on and off the exam table within employee's own bodily implant restrictions relative to radiology, e.g. AICDs, pacemakers, etc.
- Transport patients between both hospital areas and all radiology modalities.
- Support and assist technologist with daily patient work flow.
- Review and verify inconjunction with technologist on patient orders, patient history, and lab work pertaining to specific exam.
- Assist technologist and radiologist, as needed.
- Report any equipment malfunction to supervisor or manager.
- Prepare exam rooms for upcoming exam.
- Work in any area and flexible in meeting the needs of the department.
- Completes exams in RIS and checks PACS to insure exam has crossed into the system.
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms, as needed.
- Observe safety measures as they pertain to modalities assigned, radiation protection and MRI safety.
- Assist with stockroom responsibilities ensuring adequate supply inventories.
- Follows established department procedures to accurately verify and transport the proper patient by visually checking patient identification or verifying with nursing staff.
- Adherence to the Patient Identification Policy.
- Assist in obtaining patient signature on validated consent forms.
- Obtains authorization for release of radiology records.
- Burn CD's, print films and digitize, as needed.
- Answers telephone in compliance with the hospital telephone etiquette.
- Document accurate messages and/or route calls to the appropriate parties.
Non-Essential Duties:
- Assists with other duties as assigned, within skills sets and abilities.
- Assist in special projects, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
- Knowledge of English language, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, preferred.
Skills - Knowledge of basic personal computer.
- Proficient in the operations of Computers, Scanners, Copiers, and Fax Machines, preferred.
Abilities - Ability to greet and assist patients, visitors and other customers in professional manner
- Ability to transfer patients in a safely manner
- Ability to evaluate problems and suggest and/or implements solutions independently
- Ability to be flexible in meeting the staffing requirements of the department
- Ability to provide the highest level of patient and customer satisfaction
- Ability to multi task

Education and Experience:
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Previous experience assisting Technologists in a clinical environment, preferred.
- Previous patient transport experience in an healthcare environment, preferred.
Required Licensure and/or Certifications:
- BLS certification
