Proudly affiliated with MedStar Health, we are dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge via research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders, and participate in the Georgetown Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience (IPN), a Ph.

D. program within Biomedical Graduate Education at Georgetown University.

  • Led by Dr. Tina Liu, our lab studies neuroplasticity in healthy and clinical populations across the lifespan using a combination of psychophysics, eye tracking, 3T fMRI and 7T layer fMRI, brain stimulation (tDCS, tRNS, and/or TMS), computational modeling, online crowdsourcing "big data," developmental and neuropsychological approaches.
  • Job Overview
  • We have an opening for a fulltime Lab Tech/Manager with duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinating research involving stroke patients and healthy volunteers
  • Assisting with experimental design, programming, experiment setup, and data analysis
  • Conducting behavioral, fMRI, and brain stimulation experiments in stroke patients and healthy volunteers
  • Assisting with training and supervising undergraduate students in the lab
  • Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
  • Reporting directly to the lab PI, Dr. Tina Liu, the Lab Tech/Manager has an integral role in coordinating and facilitating neuroscience research activities within and beyond the Visual Perception & Plasticity Lab.
  • Their supports the research goals of the Neurology Department, and also aligns with Georgetown University Medical Center's fourpart mission of research, teaching, service and patient care (provided through a partnership with MedStar Health).
  • They collaborate closely with IPN faculty members, neurologists, and neuroophthalmologists in the Department of Neurology, contributing to a collaborative environment that advances our understanding of neurological disorders.
  • This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate a change to a position's mode of work designation.

  • Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree _preference_ for a major in Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Ability to demonstrate a passion for science, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and a growth mindset
  • Basic computer skills are required _preference_ for good programming skills in MATLAB or Python as it can be learned in the lab
  • Preferred Qualification
  • Experience in human neuroscience research, especially in neuroimaging techniques
