    Job Summary :


    Wolcott College Prep is currently seeking an experienced high school Learning Specialist dedicated to teaching to the strengths of college-bound students with learning differences to join our team of professionals.

    Expertise in supporting students with dyslexia, learning disorders, and ADHD with strength based instructional methods is desired. Wolcott College Prep offers in-person instruction, and this position requires in-person teaching.

    The Learning Specialist also collaborates with faculty across the curriculum and content areas to:

    create deeper curricular connections, embed strategies and scaffolds into classroom instruction, and, when needed, develop individualized approaches for students.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    Providing academic support services for students including, but not limited to: executive functioning skills, study skills, and learning plan development.

    Assisting students in recognizing their strengths and maximizing their academic performance and educational outcomes.
    Creating and tracking individual learning plans, focusing on strengths and challenges
    Developing strengths and understand learning styles
    Imparting strategies to achieve academic success
    Guiding the development of academic skills
    Modeling problem-solving
    Facilitating collaboration with faculty
    Promoting self-advocacy
    Reflecting on individual student growth and progress
    Developing metacognition (ability or awareness of how you think and learn)
    Conducting student-led learning plan meetings
    Using technological tools to enhance executive function and academic skills
    Leading workshops on a range of topics, including: Executive Functioning, Growth Mindset, Reflections on Teachers Comments, Interview Skills, Self-Awareness, College Essay Writing and the Application Process


    Qualifications:

    Education:
    Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university,

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
    Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements preferred. LBSI preferred.

    Experience:
    Previous experience teaching college bound high school students with learning difference preferred.


    Salary:
    Commensurate with experience.
