    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Processional Learning, the Professional Learning Specialist is responsible for technical processes and procedures in support of professional learning for the district. The successful candidate possesses a strong ability to design professional learning systems and structures that builds the capacity of HPS educators and employees through knowledge, skills and understanding in a variety of professional learning topics aligned to the district's instructional vision and the district model of excellence.

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Contributes to strategy development for the implementation of a robust district-wide professional learning system

    · Applies continuous improvement efforts in the design of professional learning structures at the school and district levels

    · Creates professional learning opportunities that are designed to build capacity through the lens of effective instructional practices, data analysis and action planning, and culturally responsive instructional methodologies.

    · Contributes to a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice among stakeholders to improve teaching effectiveness and student achievement.

    · Stays abreast of current trends, research, and best practices to support high-quality professional learning opportunities across the organization

    · Maintains awareness of and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and mandates

    · Possesses strong organizational and time management skills

    · Gathers feedback from participants and stakeholders to measure learning outcomes and make recommendations for continuous improvement

    · Develops training modules, virtual learning experiences, and other resources to support varied professional learning modes

    · Facilitates engaging and interactive professional learning sessions using a variety of instructional techniques aligned with adult learning principles.

    · Develop teachers' and administrators' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs aligned to adult learning theory and the CT professional learning standards

    · Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills

    · Provides technical support to schools (i.e, Protraxx, L.I.F.T Framework, district PL calendar, etc.)

    · Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    · Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience including experience in an educational setting.

    · In-depth knowledge of professional learning standards, educational theories, adult learning principles and pedagogical practices relevant to urban education.

    · Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions

    · Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

    · Proficiency in educational technology tools and digital resources to support professional learning

    · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    · Ability to lead small and large groups through change efforts with a proven ability to build consensus among peer professionals and cross functional teams

    · Innovative thinker and resourceful planner.

    · Ability to work well with staff members in a fair, effective and courteous manner.

    · Ability to work within difficult time constraints and under stressful conditions.

    CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Non-certified

    SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a twelve-month work year position. Salary is commensurate with experience. $60,000 - $70,000.
