This is what you will do:
We are seeking a motivated Associate Scientist III to work in our multidisciplinary and collaborative Small-Molecule Research team.
This individual will conduct laboratory experiments and generate and interpret scientific data as part of our discovery process leading to development of small-molecule drugs for rare diseases.
You will be responsible for:
- Serving as a key member of the smallmolecule biology team.
- Performing laboratory assessments of smallmolecule compound activity and selectivity by in vitro methods such as biochemical assays, cellbased assays, and cell free assays.
- Analyzing results of laboratory assays and delivering reliable and timely results.
- Developing new assays and troubleshooting existing assays as needed for progress of discovery projects, with guidance from senior team members.
- Working collaboratively with fellow team members, maintaining laboratory equipment and infrastructure, and performing other activities as needed.
- Preparing protocols and study reports as assigned.
- Actively participating in team meetings to discuss project findings and next steps.
You will need to have:
- Bachelor's degree with 35 years of experience in academic or pharmaceutical industry research, or a Master's degree with 13 years of experience in academic or pharmaceutical industry research.
- Demonstrated laboratory experience and skills at performing in vitro reactions and assays.
- Strong organizational and relationship building skills and the ability to multitask and function independently within a team context.
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in a lab environment. As is typical of a labbased role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; work comfortably in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious, and hazardous materials; gown/degown PPE; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and nonlinear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours
We would prefer for you to have:
- Experience in drug discovery and/or assay development.
- Strong learning agility and desire to learn new techniques.
