    Scheduling Manager (Heavy Civil)

    Primoris Heavy Civil is searching for a Scheduling Manager in the Houston, TX or Baton Rouge, LA area.

    The position will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the scheduling processes within the heavy civil division, as well as efficiently plan and manage schedules for large-scale construction projects.

    This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing scheduling software, and making data-driven decisions to enhance productivity and workflow.

    Attention to detail and strong organizational skills will be essential in successfully coordinating the various aspects of the project timeline.

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and responsibilities:


    Key Responsibilities:
    Develop and maintain process for discipline master schedules
    Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to gather necessary information and input for schedule creation and updates.
    Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, incorporating all project phases, activities, and milestones.
    Regularly review and update project schedules to reflect actual progress, delays, and changes.
    Prepare progress reports and communicate scheduling updates to stakeholders and project teams.
    Work closely with the estimating team to integrate project timelines into bid proposals.
    Anticipate and proactively address scheduling conflicts and resource constraints.
    Participate in project meetings and provide insights on schedule-related matters.
    Continuously evaluate and implement scheduling best practices and lessons learned from previous projects.
    Assist in the identification of critical paths, potential risks, and opportunities for schedule optimization.
    Monitor long-term schedules to ensure they align with operational requirements and objectives.
    Assist in resource planning, including manpower, equipment, and materials, based on demand, project timelines, and available resources.
    Collaborate with department heads, supervisors, and team leaders to understand their scheduling needs and priorities.
    Ensure effective communication and alignment across departments to meet scheduling requirements.
    Collect and analyze data related to resource usage, scheduling efficiency, and productivity.
    Use data insights to assist project management in making informed decisions and improve scheduling processes.
    Utilize scheduling software and tools to create and manage schedules.
    Stay updated with software features and make recommendations for improvements.
    Ensure that schedules meet quality and service level standards.
    Provide timely and accurate updating of project schedules
    Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
    Stay informed about industry-specific regulations and labor laws affecting scheduling and workforce management.
    Ensure compliance with these regulations in all scheduling activities.

    Assist in development of contingency plans for handling unexpected events, such as equipment breakdowns or workforce/material shortages, to minimize disruptions.

    Generate regular reports on scheduling performance, including key metrics and actionable recommendations.
    Provide training to staff on scheduling processes and best practices.
    Encourage professional growth and development within the scheduling department.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
    Proficiency in project management software and scheduling tools, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar.
    Proven experience in project scheduling for heavy civil construction projects.
    Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry regulations.
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
    Resource loading and analysis of data into schedules as required - Primavera.
    In depth knowledge of construction claims and change orders related to scheduling impacts.


    A Scheduling Manager plays a vital role in ensuring an organization's resources are allocated efficiently, operations run smoothly, and customer needs are met.

    This role demands a combination of strategic thinking, data analysis, and effective communication to drive improvements in scheduling processes.

    Primoris Heavy Civil, supported by the bonding capacity and resources of Primoris, has expanded into an even larger role within the heavy civil, infrastructure rehabilitation and transportation industries.

    Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

    Heavy Civil is comprised of six operating units that include North Louisiana Operations, South Louisiana Operations, Texas Operations, HMA Paving Operations, Concrete Paving Operations, and the Infrastructure Rehabilitation Unit.
