    Job Description and Duties

    This is a continuance of previous advertisement originally posted on 03/10/2023. Previous applicants remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.
    Candidate/Applicant must be bilingual/ASL for consideration.

    This position is located in the city of San Diego.

    Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, duties involve a wide range of interpreting for the assigned Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf (RCD) or other Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing staff members when necessary. Activities include, but are not limited, to: interpreting professional meetings, telephone calls, one-on-one meetings with departmental staff or the general public, case staffing, training sessions, departmental operations, inter-departmental meetings, conferences and public events, as needed by the department. Must understand the Department's mission and goals, be flexible, able to travel, maintain availability to work same hours as the assigned RCD in person or remotely, other duties may be assigned by the Rehabilitation Supervisor.

    Working Conditions

    Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 15-20 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.

     This position requires the incumbent to be fluent in American Sign Language and possess the appropriate documentation to certify this fluency before they are appointed to this position.
