Description
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a national Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Management (EM) Business Development Manager with demonstrated success providing innovative solutions for the DOE.
This individual will be the visionary behind our DOE business line, which includes an existing A/E, environmental and construction practice currently serving DOE clients.
The DOE EM role is responsible for identifying industry trends, go-to-market strategies for new offerings, identifying new business opportunities, establishing, and meeting sales targets, continuously improving existing offerings, and leading the pursuit process for major projects.
The candidate will perform direct sales and business development activities; identify and develop our DOE EM strategy; contribute to the overall DOE business plan; and lead, motivate, coordinate, and support a team of national account managers in the DOE market space.
Ideally, the candidate would be located in Washington DC (Arlington, VA); Aiken, SC; Oak Ridge, TN; Richland, WA (Tri-Cities); Albuquerque, NM or Kansas City, MO.
Other locations will be considered.Job Duties:
Collaborate internally with other Burns & McDonnell groups, business units, and regional offices, with an external focus to maximize existing client opportunities and develop new clients.
Develop business opportunities at key EM operating sites including teaming with Management & Operations (M&O) contractors and contracts with DOE EM.
Develop annual strategic, financial, and marketing business line goals in conjunction with DOE and EM team leadership.
Mentor and train account managers on various techniques and approaches to selling consulting services to the DOE.

Qualified candidates should have experience in the following areas:
A/E Design Services
Decommissioning & Demolition
Remedial investigation & Design, including CERCLA & RCRA
Environmental Compliance
National Environmental Policy Act
EPC/Design-Build
Experience in implementing DOE O 413.3B, Program and Project Management for the Acquisition of Capital Assets
Experience in managing projects/programs with DOE EM M&O contractors
With the following agencies:
DOE including Office of Environmental Management (EM), Office of Science (SC) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
GSA & DoD experience will be useful
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration, natural & environmental sciences, geology, engineering or related fields.
Minimum 7 years (10 years preferred) of business development or program management experience with DOE, preferably within Environmental Management (EM).
Experience in DOE contracting and the ability to identify federal opportunities and take them through the strategic planning and proposal stages.
Local and regional knowledge and relationships with key DOE Management & Operations (M&O) Contractors, DOE Leadership and small businesses is a must.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are required to develop and maintain relationships.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
