    Gordon Murray Technologies has brought together class leading engineering talent to facilitate and introduce disruptive technologies and low environmental impact innovations to the mobility sector.

    With multiple sites in the UK, Gordon Murray Technologies continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development.

    As a result, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a proven Vehicle Systems Director to join our team in a Midlands-based location.


    Role Guidelines:


    Reporting to the GMT Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the functional engineering groups and their teams have the strategies, resources and skills necessary to deliver the programs and products required by the group.

    We are looking for a seasoned professional with a passion for automotive excellence and a proven track record of leading successful technology delivery across a wide range of systems.


    Responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership:

    Provide strategic direction and inspirational leadership to the functional engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.


    Project/ engineering oversight:

    Oversee the development and coordination of all functional engineering teams ensuring they provide support from concept to production that aligns with company objectives and timelines.


    Innovation and R&D:

    Drive technology focus and definition within each functional area initiating and aligning research and development initiatives, exploring emerging technologies and trends to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.

    Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with the vehicle Line Directors, Vehicle Integration Director, R&D Director, Functional Software Director and Operations Director.


    Budget Management:

    Manage the definition, coordination of engineering budgets, confirming efficient allocation of resources and optimizing project costs while maintaining high-quality standards.


    Talent Development:
    Foster the professional growth and development of engineering team members, identifying training needs and talent gaps.

    Quality Assurance:
    Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of robust and reliable engineering solutions.

    Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure that engineering activities comply with relevant regulations and standards, addressing any compliance-related issues proactively.

    Strategic Planning:
    Contribute to the development and execution of the company's overall strategic plan, with a focus on engineering-related initiatives.

    Stakeholder Engagement:
    Engage with external partners, suppliers, and clients to build strong collaborative relationships and explore opportunities for strategic partnerships.
    Coordinate development and definition of group engineering processes drawing on industry best practice and lessons learnt.
    To ensure compliance with the groups Governance, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility
    Providing technical leadership and engineering support throughout the business
    Supporting introduction and continued development of all groups analysis, digital twining, CAE, physical testing and homologation activities.
    Drive the business to maintain the highest standards of activities and continuously improve how we work.
    Maintain the highest levels of technical knowledge within the team, encouraging professional development and growth.
    To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role

    Experience and Qualifications:
    A track record of successfully delivering complete end to end vehicle line programmes within the high-end automotive sector
    Demonstrable successful track record in leading £multi million complex, cross-functional programmes
    Experience is preferred within EV automotive domain, or to have demonstrated outstanding skills gained from a related industry.
    Experience of challenging existing assumptions, concepts, and beliefs to develop new solutions.

    Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, inspire and champion a culture that comes together to over deliver against the customers' expectations.

    Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing techniques and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical systems from both a hardware and software perspective
    Able to work efficiently and demonstrate a high level of composure.
    High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.
    Educated to degree level or equivalent is a requirement, with suitable post graduate engineering and/or Programme Management qualifications being desirable
