**SUMMARY OF POSITION:**
The Merchandise Planner is responsible for developing merchandise planning strategies that deliver sales and inventory productivity goals. The Planner will use historical analysis and trend to influence the global assortment and optimize sales plans. This role is responsible for in-season review of global sales trends and utilize performance to maximize pre-season unit buys and sales forecasts. This role will be highly cross-functional, collaborating with Merchandising, and Inventory Management by bringing strategic and analytical insights to influence the brands strategy and vision.
**PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:**
Analyze trends and develop merchandise strategies by region for the Global DTC business 15% Primary
Prepare business recaps (week, month, quarterly) to identify category and regional trends to influence financial strategies 10% Collab
Present trend analysis in Weekly Product Review meetings to help determine product lifecycle 10% Collab
Analyze and assess sales performance of all Global DTC product categories, prepping pre-season SKU level plans at a granular level; revise in-season SKU-level plans accordingly to maximize sales and inventory flow 15% Primary
Validate productive assortment by analysis and recommendations on SKU counts by category/region 10% Collab
Responsible for SKU-level pre-season forecasts that hit the tops down product strategies as well as sales and inventory targets 10% Primary
Partner with Planning Manager to influence in-season business trends by developing forward looking recommendations to support merchandise planning strategies through OTB conversations 10% Collab
Conduct category level quarterly Hindsight process for all DTC regions 10% Collab
Co-Own Investment Review process collaborate with Merchandising partners and Planning Manager to ensure pre-season plans can be met based on newness assortment, update IR template and present out the Quarterly Merch Plan to cross-functional team 10% Collab
**Budget Owner:** No
**Fiscal Accountabilities:** Directly responsible for creating Merchandise Analysis by Region/ Customer/ Item. Joint ownership with pre and in season Merchandise Strategies.
**Key Working Relationships:** This role must maintain strong working relationships with Product Development, Merchandising, Inventory Management, Planning and Sales Merchandising
**Required Skills & Experience:**
Bachelors degree: Finance, Operations, Retail Management or Business Management preferred (or equivalent work experience)
4 years of merchandise planning, demand forecast or inventory management experience
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; must be able to build templates, use reporting tools/ systems, manipulate large quantities of data in Microsoft Excel to guide decisions
Demonstrated strong analytical skills to interpret meaningful themes from quantitative data; able to use rigor and logic to solve problems with effective solutions
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships across departments, global regions, and cultures
Strong communication and presentation skills concisely present complex information/recommendations in terms meaningful to various audiences
Comfort with ambiguity and passion/excitement for building new tools and processes
**Travel Requirements:** 10%
**Physical Requirements:**
This position is based in an office environment. Primarily sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
