Description
Position SummaryThe Medical Receiving Assistant is a clerical position in a fast-paced, customer service environment.
Main assignment will be in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Mailroom, where duties include maintaining current laboratory inventory, placing orders and restocking as necessary, preparing finalized patient reports and client invoices for mailing, packaging and shipping product orders, and organizing and maintaining paper medical records.
The Medical Receiving Assistant will also support the Client Services Section in handling incoming client inquiries via phone and email, processing necropsy and cremation paperwork, data entry and editing using multiple software programs, and front desk coverage greeting visitors and accepting samples.
There will be an opportunity to cross-train in the Receiving Order Entry section to assist in opening incoming package submissions and data entry, as the need arises.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training such as that acquired in up to one year of college or technical school in a medical/science area; one to three years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical or laboratory setting to include work with postal regulations and bulk mail; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A successful candidate will be a professional who is organized, detail oriented, and one who does not sweat the small stuff and is able to remain calm, cool, and collected under pressure.
The ideal candidate for this role will be team oriented, collaborative by nature, customer service focused, an independent problem solver, and has a positive attitude, while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
Good written and oral communication skills; ability to function as a team member within and across multiple levels of operations.

Work Hours
Work hours are Monday through Friday between 7:30am and 5:30pm and include weekends and holidays on a rotational basis and are set in consultation with the supervisor.
