    Marketing and Business Manager, Equity Partner

    Been working for one of the big boys and wish you were controlling your own destiny?


    We make wines that can go toe to toe with the very best in the world and unlike other wineries we can prove it.

    In 7 years of blind tastings against gold standard wines with consumers as judges, we have been beat only once.

    We use restorative farming methods to grow our grapes, a state of the art facility to make our wines and a unique, scientifically sound approach for reproducible sensory evaluation of wines.

    Over the last seven years, we have developed a new kind of drink with the potential to be a mass product.

    This second brand is now ready for prime time.
    We need someone who can help us get to the next level.

    In the next 5 years we would like to go from up-and-coming to establishing ourselves as one of the premier wineries in California, and by extension, the world.

    No pressure, right?


    You should be in a similar position to us: up and coming (relative to your potential), highly competitive, talented, driven, proud of yourself and what you do, one of the best in your business and ready to take the next and hopefully last big step.

    Our / your overall strategy is guided by our documented brand identity only. Our Why is clearly defined but the How is entirely up to you. You can and are encouraged to be as creative as you want.

    Whether you want to pursue a traditional marketing strategy leveraging your existing industry relationships or/and one that is unique and outside the mold is up to you.

    As long as you achieve the milestones set in part by you, you have total professional freedom.

    You would need to establish effective marketing strategies and sales channels. You'd use our established POS, compliance and shipping infrastructure and procedures for DTC sales.

    The most important aspect of your role would be to either leverage your pre-existing relationships or establish lasting relationships in the industry that allow us to optimize our brands' potentials, to create demand for our products allowing us to scale up production, grow our fan base, maximize our margin while paving the way towards expansion.

    Assuming you don't have industry relationships already, you'd need to be an effective relationship builder / brand representative.

    This includes both in person representation, event management as well as digital work, such as videography, web site and social media management.

    You need to be both a marketer and a business person. Your track record in both areas should speak for itself.

    You should be able to develop and execute a business plan, generate and interpret a balance sheet, use common accounting software, present to leadership in regular meetings.

    Above all, you should be a self motivated leader and team builder.

    We believe in treating people fairly and rewarding those who make essential contributions.

    An equity partner earn-in involves vesting in your equity share over 4 years and therefore requires being comfortable initially with a low compensation while growing the business and increasing your share in it (sweat equity).

    If this were not an option for you, we could bring you on as an employee, without an equity share but we'd prefer to bring on a partner.

    The successful candidate will be able to present us with a rough 5-year plan including goals and tracking measures and a convincing strategy for using them.
