- Assists in providing for the delivery of high-quality solid waste and recycling collection services to the public, according to City ordinances, policies, procedures and safety standards
- Assists in facilitating the ongoing maintenance program and inventory for all commercial solid waste containers, recycling bins, and green waste bags in the City, including but not limited to repairing, cleaning, sanitizing, assembling, loading, and unloading of containers.
- Operates, drives, and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment, including but not limited to a roll-off truck, container delivery truck, stake bed pick up, drill, winch, hydraulic and motorized power equipment and hand tools in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; and performs manual labor tasks as assigned.
- Transports, exchanges and services City-provided solid waste, recycling and green waste containers, and other service materials; determines fair wear and tear or customer abuse of containers; replaces containers according to division standards.
- Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Must possess a valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or have the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment preferred.
- City policies and procedures.
- City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City employees and the public.
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to hazardous equipment and chemicals, dust, low to no light conditions, damp/wet surfaces and high noise levels and extended periods of sitting and driving; requires ability to climb, use fine motor skills and ability to safely reach, twist, lift, carry and move items weighing up to eighty (80) pounds.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays and other irregularly scheduled times. May be required to work immediately before, during or immediately after an emergency or disaster.
- Minimum Texas Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment and have an insurable driving record.
- Successfully complete 6-month probation period.
- Demonstrate proper pre/post trip inspection process and vehicle maintenance procedures on all assigned vehicles.
- Demonstrate proper use and care of all personal protective equipment (PPE) and zero preventable accidents or injuries.
- Minimum 2-years in position to move to next level.

This position may occasionally assist in other areas of the Solid Waste and Recycling Division's daily operations as needed, including the Recycle Center, residential, and recycling collection efforts, to gain greater understanding of the operations.

Under close supervision, maintains, services, and transports solid waste and recycling service collection containers in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
