    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 12 pm - 5 pm

    25 hours per week (occasional weekends, as needed)

    Reports to: Pastor

    Summary:

    The General Maintenance Workers is responsible for the effective, efficient and safe maintenance, renovation and upkeep of all parish buildings and grounds for the church, annex property and parish cemetery. Primary systems include energy management, irrigation, and grounds. This position also provides support to the Events Coordinator and Social Concerns & Community Outreach Coordinator in times of event preparation and/or take down. A working position; personally performs routine to mid-level maintenance functions.     Position Responsibilities:

    Essential Duties

    · Collaborates with the Pastor, Vicar and/or Office Manager in developing a comprehensive plan to address the operational and maintenance needs of the parish buildings and grounds.

    · Directs the implementation of the annual work plan regarding grounds maintenance and general parish upkeep.

    · Oversees and/or performs required maintenance or contracted maintenance work as appropriate.

    · Evaluates the methods and procedures used in performing routine maintenance and custodial duties and revises those procedures as necessary for improved efficiency.

    · Keeps parish grounds neat and presentable through regular mowing, leaf blowing and trash pick up.

    · Performs basic carpentry, HVAC, electrical and plumbing related tasks for parish grounds.

    · Responsible for set up and organization of main campus parish hall meeting rooms.

    · Assists with the planning of quarterly parish clean up volunteer opportunities.

    · Conducts periodic equipment maintenance checks.

    · Arranges for repairs as needed and/or notifies the Office Manager or Bookkeeper when equipment needs to be replaced or repaired by an outside vendor.

    · Coordinates safety and security procedures as well as specialized needs.

    · Helps with development and implementation of procedures to address problems that arise within the facilities, consistent with parish and Archdiocesan guidelines.

    · Maintains adequate inventory of custodial, maintenance and operational supplies.

    · Purchases or rents custodial supplies/equipment as necessary.

    · Maintains operating manuals and serial numbers of custodial equipment owned by the parish.

    · Maintains and inventories parish tools and equipment.

    · Assists with coordinating and implementing the energy management program.

    · Completes all work orders and/or assigned maintenance duties in a timely manner.

    · Assists with yearly budget for maintenance. Monitors and ensures that maintenance expenses are within parish guidelines.

    · Maintains current level of knowledge and skills required to perform the job. Attends workshops and classes. Maintains membership/affiliation with appropriate professional organizations.

    · Responds to facility alarms, alerts and system failures.

    · Provides prompt response to maintenance requests and issues.

    · Coordinates annual inspection of facilities with Archdiocesan Risk Management Office.

    · Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.

    · Verify payment and invoicing match work performed and contract pricing.

    · Will at times be working at any of three parish properties in a team effort with the rest of maintenance personnel at the main church campus, the Annex Property and the parish Cemetery.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building, grounds, or industrial facility maintenance Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience Previous experience using/working with a multi-line telephone system
  • Licenses and Credentials Compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements.
  • Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

    · Excellent interpersonal skills and familiarity with the Catholic Church as an organization.

    · Must work effectively with and collaborate with the Pastor, parish staff and parishioners.

    · Ability to diagnose and perform routine to mid-level repairs. Certifications a plus.

    · Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to understand, learn and use technology-based systems.

    · Ability to work from ladders, adjust to height and close quarters, withstand heat and cold, good eye-hand coordination and flexibility. Ability to safely lift up to 50#.

    · Ability to operate equipment, owned and rented, to include backhoe and lifts; heights to 40'.

    · On-call availability for emergencies
