Residential Specialist - Awake Overnight - Carroll County
General Description:
The Residential Specialist implements individual's service plans by providing direct psychiatric rehabilitation services and skills training to individuals recovering from mental illness. The Residential Specialist works with residents in their homes by providing the support to assist them in developing the skills necessary for independence and success. May have to use their own vehicle to travel between locations, company vehicles are used to transport residents.
Schedule: Every Other Weekend
Friday 9 PM to 9 AM
Saturday 9 PM to 9 AM
Sunday, 9 PM to 9 AM (Monday)
This person reports to the Residential Coordinator or the Residential Weekend Supervisor.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skill Abilities to Perform Essential Job Functions:
A high school diploma is required and experience in human service delivery is preferred. The ability to work as a part of a team is necessary. A good driving record is also essential. The ability to respect individual choice in the recovery process and a commitment to recovery through the psychiatric rehabilitation process is required. Also, this position requires good verbal communication skills and the understanding to respect the abilities and limitations of consumers.
Summary of Essential Functions, Responsibilities and Duties
̈ Assist consumers with implementing Individual Service Plans to reach goals
̈ Facilitate group and individual activities
̈ Provide transportation to assist consumers in using community resources
̈ Document in logbook and complete incident reports as needed by end of shift
̈ Assist consumers with independent living skills
̈ Communicate with supervisors and other employees to ensure a continuum of service
̈ Provide residential program coverage
̈ Perform medication monitoring
̈ Engage in crisis management
̈ Assist with and/or clean individuals' homes as needed
̈ Confirm all medication cabinets are empty each day and correct medications are available at the houses
̈ Utilize Electronic Health Record to record services and documentation
̈ Utilize systems for internal communication, the Time and Attendance system to clock in and out of every shift worked and verify time on the last day worked of a pay cycle
̈ Perform other duties as requested by supervisors
