Cypress Creek Hospital is a free-standing 128-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in north Houston, TX, and minutes south of The Woodlands. Cypress Creek Hospital features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Cypress Creek Hospital. We are comprised of a tenured dedicated team of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Mental Health Technicians and Support Staff where delivering compassionate care is our mission.


We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

Position Summary


Shares responsibility for the overall quality of the nursing care delivered in the facility through planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of delivery systems.

Assists in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Works with leadership to create a culture of excellence in patient care and employee satisfaction. Acts as the nursing administration representative at meetings and task forces as assigned. Serves as CNO in his/her absence.


Hours are based on departmental, and facility needs and may include day, evening, and weekend hours, as directed by the CNO or CEO/Managing Director.


Job Duties:


  • Provide leadership and direction to hospital RNs, LVNs, CNAs and MHTs.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing for number and acuity of patients on assigned shift.
  • Participate in the nurse management team by assisting in the development of the hospital's philosophy of nursing and policies/procedures.
  • Serve as a role model in the delivery of patient care.
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of all emergencies, incidents, special procedures and patient complaints during shift.
  • Assists in reviewing policies and procedures ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, State and Federal standards, organizational and facility policies/procedures.
  • Regularly reviews patient charts for compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Participates in hospital committees as needed.
  • Participates in Administrator On Call rotation.
  • Assists with milieu management and unit team leadership.
  • Provide assistance with appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
  • Provide "realtime" staff education as needed.
  • Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork. Adheres to UHS Service Excellence standards.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Assistant Chief Nursing Officer Job Requirements:


  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Nursing program (master's degree preferred) and licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
  • Five (5) years nursing experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting, with two (2) years in a nursing leadership role preferred.

Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, planning intervention and evaluation of psychiatric patients

Ability to act as the House Supervisor, med nurse, charge nurse, or MHT when needed

Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation

Knowledge of Joint Commission, DSHS, CMS standards, department, and personnel policies/procedures and the ability to monitor and maintain compliance with such standards.
