    JOB TITLE: Student Support - School Psychologist

    REPORTS TO: School Director, Director of Student Support and/or Designee

    CLASSIFICATION: Certificated/Exempt

    THE OPPORTUNITY (POSITION OVERVIEW)

    The School Psychologist will provide a full range of school psychological services to children grades K-12. Duties include screening and assessment, individual and group counseling, and work with outside agencies as appropriate. The School Psychologist will also be an integral member of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to determine student's eligibility for special education services, appropriate programming, and suggest strategies and support for educational, academic, and behavioral needs.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

    • Provide leadership for the student support team staff.
    • Perform psycho-educational evaluations for learners who are candidates for special education. services, including completing observations, testing, gathering pertinent data, completing a written report and presenting the findings at Individual Education Plan meetings.
    • Serve as a member of the IEP teams for tri-annual and annual (as needed) meetings.
    • Participate in Student Study Teams (SST) as needed.
    • Counsel and consult with learners, facilitators, and parents with regard to learner's educational development recommending alternatives when necessary.
    • Assist facilitators in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate learning and behavior intervention.
    • Facilitate individual and small group counseling sessions as needed.
    • Assist parents in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of children.
    • Counsel learners, parents and guardians for the purpose of enhancing student success in school.
    • Present information on various topics related to areas of professional expertise for the purpose of communicating information, in-servicing colleagues and gaining feedback on treatment issues.
    • Provide professional development as needed in areas such as Love and Logic, differentiation strategies, executive functions, etc.

    • Perform other responsibilities as defined by the designated supervisor.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Communicating with others to exchange information. (In Person/Telephone/Computer)
    • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
    • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
    • When needed to support a school or education program, must have the ability to travel by public transit as well as operate a vehicle for self-transportation purposes between worksites.
    • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
    • May encounter outdoor elements: high (>90)/low (<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.
    • Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.
    • Ability to supervise/manage workers and delegate as needed in project management situations.
    • Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets.
    • Writing professionally, both by hand and utilizing computer software.
    • Speaking in public settings including making public presentations to large and small groups.
    • Dealing and navigating professionally through high-stress situations.

    WHAT YOU WILL BRING (QUALIFICATIONS)

    • Master's degree.
    • State Certification in School Psychology.
    • Knowledge of school psychology theory, child development, substance abuse education, tests and measurements, and crisis management.
    • Ability to work well and deal tactfully with administrators, employees, parents, learners and the public.
    • Ability to apply assessment, counseling, interviewing, and crisis intervention skills.
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and time management skills.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with learners, communities, families, team members, and others.
