    Job Overview

    The Cooperative Grants Office (CGO) in the Office of Research is a new partnership between the Office of Research (OoR) and multiple colleges. The CGO will provide pre-award grant preparation for the member colleges. The OoR is hiring an Executive Director of the Cooperative Grants Office (ED/CGO) who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the CGO, providing grant preparation services to member colleges at the University of Cincinnati. The ED/CGO will serve as an Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) for the University and manage the staff of the CGO.

    Essential Functions
    • Provide grant preparation services to member colleges at the University of Cincinnati.
    • Responsible for the overall management of day-to-day operations with a focus on tactical and strategic planning and implementation, training, and management of major projects.
    • Communicate regularly with the leadership of all member colleges, as well as work with each leadership team on the overall strategic direction of the office. Collaborate with the leadership of the member colleges annually to develop the CGO budget.
    • Develop and implement CGO processes, procedures, and operating guidelines. Evaluate operational activities to ensure compliance.
    • Oversee employee training and development.
    • Provide advice and information to the CGO Oversight Committee and provide formal reports at committee meetings.
    • Act as liaison with internal and external constituents.
    • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
    • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
    Required Education
    • Bachelor's Degree.
    • Eleven (11) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
    Required Experience
    • Seven (7) years of experience working in sponsored program administration.
    • Three (3) years of experience supervising staff.
    Additional Qualifications Considered
    • Experience working with grant agencies, especially federal agencies such as the NIH and NSF.
    • Experience in preparation of grant proposals.
    • Detailed knowledge of federal grant rules and regulations, particularly the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR part 200), NSF PAPPG, and NIH Grants Policy Statement.
    • Experience in a higher education environment, and experience working with faculty researchers.
