- Provide advising and coaching to TUB participants to ensure academic success and barrier mitigation.
- Coordinate and provide tutoring with an emphasis in math, science and composition.
- Keep accurate student records and monitor student progress using the TRIO database.
- Recruit, identify eligible participants and complete interview sessions with participants and parents.
- Monitor the participants' progress while in high school and into post-secondary education.
- Provide program enrichment seminars that are appropriate and timely.
- Complete all requests from the Director as assigned for the improvement of the program.
- Participate and chaperone college and cultural tours and overnight trips.
- Bachelor's degree in education, school counseling or related field
- Four years of experience working with youth, specifically low income and first-generation population.
- Familiarity with State of Ohio secondary school standards and curriculum and the ability to develop relevant and appropriate curriculum and instruction and/or tutoring to high school students.
- Ability to participate and chaperone overnight college and cultural trips.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between Cincinnati State and Mt. Healthy High School.
- Ability to pick up, carry, move materials weighing 25 pounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Master's degree in education, social work, or another relevant field.
- Previous experience working with Upward Bound or TRiO programs and participants.
- The ability to work effectively with teachers, administrators, school counselors, and parents to meet the objectives of the project.
- Excellent classroom management.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate/interact effectively with a diverse professional, community, and participant population and provide a good impression of the College.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work independently, be a team player, pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and meet project deadlines.

The Cincinnati State Technical & Community College TRiO Upward Bound (TUB) program is funded by a grant by the United States Department of Education to the College and is one of two TRIO programs managed by the College.
The academic year work schedule includes but is not limited to: Monday - Thursday at Mt.
Healthy High School from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Fridays at Cincinnati State's Clifton campus from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
The summer program work schedule includes but is not limited to:Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm for five weeks at Cincinnati State's Clifton campus, with the sixth week typically designated for a college and cultural trip with the TUB participants.
The Academic Specialist will be required to work some evening and/or weekend hours, as needed, to accomplish grant and program objectives.
The Specialist must be able to plan and participate in college and cultural trips that may include overnight stays during academic and summer components.
The 5-week summer component brings the TUB participants to Cincinnati State's campus for instruction in math, science, composition, and other related subjects for which the Academic Specialist may need to teach some activities.
The Specialist will work with Upward Bound participants individually and in groups, primarily at Mt. Healthy High School. When not scheduled at Mt. Healthy High School, the Academic Specialist will work from the TUB offices located on Cincinnati State's Clifton campus.Essential Duties:
